Um...i find this weird...but totally elated that now vampires can exist scientifically! :) haha...just kidding.
One of the most chastised elements in Stephenie Meyer's Twilight Saga
is the fact that her tough-as-nails vampires sparkle. Perhaps the masses
could get over the lack of pointy teeth, and maybe even the ability to
go out in the sunlight, but to sparkle when the sun hits? Blasphemy!
Anne Rice making her old vamps have papery skin is one thing, but
likening a killer's visage with a sparkly diamond is another thing
entirely. Dracula is rolling over in his dirt-lined crypt!
But there might be solid science behind the whys. You've just got to stomach this one fact: Vampires are highly evolved insects.
I
Like a Little Science in My Fiction has written an excellent post that
explains how and why Meyer's vampires sparkle. It all comes down to
their many buggy comparisons. The theory starts with the knowledge that
most of the hematophages in the world -- a fancy word for blood eaters
-- are bugs. Like fleas, vampires must feed before they reproduce, which
triggers a painful metamorphosis. Like butterflies, vamps can remember
things from their lowly caterpillar/human days. They're cold-blooded,
and have a hard exoskeleton instead of soft, pliable skin. Their speed
is like that of the super-fast Tiger Beetle, strong like the horned dung
beetle, and have eyes that put our human versions to shame.
But
finally -- why do they sparkle? The site posits that vampires must be
like butterflies -- sometimes known to feed on blood -- who have tiny
iridescent scales.
Yes, it's silly, but it also makes a whole lot
of sense. So, next time you pull a Bella and gush over Edward's
sparkling face and divine beauty, keep in mind -- you might be lusting
for a highly evolved insect.

Q: What made you say yes to Remember Me; you are in the position to say yes or no to a director to choose which movie you want to be in or which movie you don't want to be in? A: Kind of. You get certain offers and stuff, but with this, it was before Twilight came out, and I read the script and I wanted to do another job before Twilight came out. I didn't end up doing one, but that was one of the things I read. So with this, usually every single young guy who is a lead is often such a stock character. But Tyler wasn't really coming from an obvious place and wasn't ending up in an obvious place either, so it gave you much more to work with, and it could be more of a character piece. There are certain things about generic films where you have to do certain things and perform in a certain way, and it doesn't really make sense. I think that's why this is kind of a little bit weird in that respect, it doesn't really fit what you'd expect from this kind of drama.
Q: With Remember Me, were there certain aspects of the character you could empathize with? He's a guy who likes to do his own thing… A: Yeah, in a lot of ways, I saw right from the beginning that he was quite similar to me, and I kind of tried to tailor it to be even more similar, but then the more I tailored it, the more it became a fictional creation. But yeah, I've been saying there's a kind of moment where, I think it's the end of the adolescent period, where you think that you have to be an individual so much and you want to stamp your identity on everything. I mean, you get to your early 20s and you are much more accepting of being part of the world, and not wanting to drive everything away from you all the time, and I kind of had that when I was in my early 20s.
Posted on 29 Jul 2010 by Justine Posted In: Articles, Taylor Lautner
Taylor Lautner has reportedly said that he believes his character of Jacob Black and Robert Pattinson’s Edward Cullen “connect” in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
Accoridng to Now, Lautner said that he thinks the two roles now have “respect” for each other.
He explained: “Jacob hated Edward with a passion, but now they are forced to team up. We have a moment where I have to hate and understand him at the same time. It’s the first moment where we’re able to connect.”
The 18-year-old added that Bella (Kristen Stewart) makes the rivals work as a team.
“As much as we hate each other, we kinda respect each other. We go, ‘Let’s put this all aside and fight for Bella’.”

I uploaded to the gallery HQ pictures from the "Eclipse" press conference in Berlin. Only Kristen Stewart so far, we hope to get some of Taylor Lautner soon too.
Are you all familiar with Lee Pace? Well, Twi-hards, it's time to learn and possibly fall in love because we're hearing Lee is thisclose to being cast as the newest vampire in the next installment of The Twilight Saga.
So what role would cutie Lee play?
Pace, perhaps best known from the before-its-time show Pushing Daisies, is up for the role of Garrett, a friend of Edward's (that would be Robert Pattinson, just in case you forgot).
The character is described in the script as a tall, nomadic vampire with sandy hair that he keeps tied back with a leather thong. Garrett is also penned as being down-to-earth, laid-back, rugged and having a lightness and element of humor about him.
"Lee is the top person in the running to play Garrett in Breaking Dawn," a source tells E! News.
As we all know, Bill Condon is directing both Breaking Dawn films, and according to our insider, is "hoping to take it in a more artsy direction."
Just as long as it's not a musical, eh?
Production on Dawn is slated to begin this fall, though no exact date has been announced. This up-in-the-air start could be affecting Kristen Stewart, but we'll get to that tomorrow.
Lee Pace's manager and publicist have not returned our request for comment, while Summit says no one has been cast yet for the role of Garrett.
Most recently L.P. could be seen in A Single Man and When in Rome.
So do you all approve of the possible new vamp on the block? You know the studio trolls the blogs to read your thoughts, so time to speak up—or type it out—before the offer goes out!

Edi Gathegi, who played the wicked vampire Laurent in Twilight and The
Twilight Saga: New Moon, has been cast as the ever-adapting mutant
Darwin in Fox’s X-Men: First Class, Deadline reports.
Debuting in
2006′s X-Men: Deadly Genesis #2, Darwin (aka Armando Muñoz) possesses
the power of “reactive evolution,” enabling him to adapt to whatever the
situation demands. For instance, if he’s submerged in water, he grows
functioning gills; if he’s in darkness, he gains night vision. Rejected
by his mother, Armando attempted suicide but was saved by his mutant
power. He was taken in by geneticist Moira MacTaggert, who trained him
in the use of his abilities.
The 31-year-old Gathegi joins a cast
that includes James McAvoy as Charles Xavier, Michael Fassbender as
Erik Lensherr, Alice Eve as Emma Frost, Nicholas Hoult as Henry McCoy,
Caleb Landry Jones as Sean Cassidy, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, Lucas
Till as Alex Summers, and Kevin Bacon as their as-yet-unnamed enemy.
Directed
by Matthew Vaughn, X-Men: First Class centers on the early friendship
between Xavier and Lensherr, who work with other mutants to stop a
global threat. In the process, a riff between them opens, beginning the
war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men. The film
opens on June 3, 2011.

She’s been rumored to be the favorite for the female lead in “The Girl
with the Dragon Tattoo,” but Kristen Stewart may not be getting the gig
after all. According to an industry insider, the “Twilight” babe may
already have too much on her plate to handle the action flick.
"Kristen
Stewart is being considered [for the role], but she has not
screen-tested. It looks like she may be out of the running because of
Twilight scheduling conflicts."
A Summit source added,
"Production dates are not firm but it's still looking like Breaking Dawn
will start production in Louisiana in the fall, probably October or
November.

This is enough to make even the most blood-deficient vampire blush.
According to a source with apparently intimate knowledge of Kristen Stewart's personal life, the Twilight beauty has been putting the stripper moves that she learned for her upcoming movie Welcome to the Rileys (out November 5) to good use—with her Twilight co-star and rumored boyfriend, Robert Pattinson.
OK! reports Stewart—who plays a stripper/prostitute named Mallory in the film—has gotten in the habit of performing passionate private dances for R-Pattz:
“Kristen isn’t just good, she’s great with the sexy moves. She admits to friends she feels super sexy when she gyrates to the music and struts around.”
Pattinson reportedly finds the strutting pretty sexy, too:
“Rob already thought Kris was the sexiest woman in the world. but the first time she offered him a lap dance, he couldn’t believe his luck.”
Celebrity relationships—sometimes they really can be a grind...

Thanks to Kellan Lutz Online, I have added to the gallery a new Kellan Lutz photoshoot, which he did for Idis + Tony. Check out the pictures in the gallery!

t's not that "Twilight" trilogy star Kellan Lutz wasn't listening to the Twihard hotties who fawned over him at Maxim and SKYY Vodka's Comic-Con bash in San Diego on Friday. A source at the nerd rumpus tells us Lutz was having a hard time hearing at the shindig because, "he said his ears hadn't popped in over a week" due to all the promotional travel he'd been doing for "Eclipse." This made mingling with Mark Wahlberg, Will Ferrell and the other celebs at the party difficult for Lutz while he waited for his girlfriend AnnaLynne McCord to show up.
